I wonder what are some of the career choices in Operations Research, especially in the business sector. And what do you think the path to find a job in OR (such as education, career path,…)?

    Hi Hannah,

U.S. News & World Report ranks “Operations Research Analyst” as #34 in the top 100 jobs (#7 in Best Business Jobs and #15 in Best STEM Jobs). It sounds like you could work in multiple different industries. The article noted that most entry-level professionals working this job tend to have a bachelor’s degree in math, business, or industrial engineering. So, if you’re wanting to work in OR, it looks like you are on the right path with IE!

I haven’t taken ISyE 323 yet, but I’m guessing that would be a good class to gauge your interest in OR and you might get more information on career opportunities through that class as well.
