VLookup and HLookup are very useful, however I actually prefer the combination of Index and Match. You can use both of these to find specific things within a data set
R has a lot of built in libraries that are extremely useful that is why a lot of people use it. I always got the feel that more people used python than R though.
Check out Quandl in python. Great source for data. You can use a lot of methods to forecast stock price there isn’t a simple answer. I would recommend reading Nate Silver’s “The Signal and the Noise” to learn more about forecasting in general.
There is a website called DataCamp that I used to learn R for my ISyE 601 course. It is very helpful. It has online courses with videos and interactive demonstrations, I would highly recommend checking it out.
I have been told that my internship may be canceled or moved online. A lot of firms are moving online or canceling their internships entirely though which is quite unfortunate. I have heard the JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs have moved their internship back 5 weeks because of COVID. It is going to be interesting to see what others do.
I quite like studying on the 4th floor of Memorial library in the East Asia section. The cage’s on the fourth floor are also great if you really need to hunker down.
I am planning on interning at a trading firm in Chicago this summer, assuming COVID-19 has no impact on the job. I’m really looking forward to learning more about trading and a field outside of engineering.
