Panel Discussion on IoT-enabled Data Analytics

By | November 28, 2015

We would like to highlight a panel discussion on loT (Internet of Things) – enabled Data Analytics: Opportunities, Challenges and Applications at the INFORMS annual meeting that was held on Nov. 1st – Nov. 4th, in Philadelphia, PA.

In particular, four prestigious panelists joined this session, including Prof. Benoit Montreuil (Georgia Institute of Technology), Prof. George Q. Huang (Hong Kong University), Prof. Soundar Kumara (Penn State University), and Prof. Diego Klabjan (Northwestern University) who all have been the leading scholars in this field. The moderator of this session was Prof. Kaibo Liu (University of Wisconsin – Madison).

The goal of this session is to push the frontier in IoT application and the enabled data analytics research. The session provides a forum where participants can describe current research, identify important problems and areas of application, explore emerging challenges, and formulate future research directions.

I would love to see how these concepts have developed since discussed in 2015. Technology evolves at incredible rates and IoT enabled data analytics is probably on the forefront of that evolution. The Internet of Things also generates an insane amount of data every day. The conclusions that could be drawn from analysis of these swaths of data are probably beyond belief.
